Since our opening in 1978, the journey of Hosome Gingerbread has felt a little fairytale-esque. Hosome had humble beginnings, as a small family-owned and operated business based in Mornington, Victoria. With so many other types of gingerbread on the market, we had to really believe in our product – and it would seem our customers believed in it too.

Hosome found its feet quickly, and 45 years later, this small family business isn’t so small (we’re still 100% family-owned and operated, though!). We supply bakeries, cafes, schools, grocery stores, and more with our delicious, handmade gingerbread, and demand hasn’t slowed. 

 

The gingerbread

To no surprise, Christmas is our busiest time of year – and we deliver on the festive cheer. From easy-to-assemble Christmas Gingerbread Houses, to flat gingerbread for decorating and making cookies or ornaments, Christmas isn’t complete without some Hosome Gingerbread in the house.

Outside of December, our range includes chewy gingerbread men, moist gingerbread cake, and iced bunnies, hearts, and trains. Because gingerbread deserves to be enjoyed year-round – not just at Christmas. 

 

The recipe

Our customers keep coming back for our much-loved gingerbread recipe, but as times change, we’re always looking for ways to improve and make our gingerbread that bit better. We hand make our gingerbread using 100% Australian honey and all Australian ingredients, and believe us when we say – you can taste the difference. Our guarded family recipe produces the chewiest, perfectly sweet gingerbread delights, so it’s no wonder we’ve stuck around for so many years.

But the delectable flavour of our gingerbread isn’t the only thing that makes it the best out there. Hosome Gingerbread is also 97% fat-free! It’s the perfect, no-guilt, tasty treat. So you can enjoy a spiced gingerbread man any time you choose. (We love it on a cold night, tucked up on the couch with a hot choccie.)
